If an "establishment" rethug like Romney, Huckabee, Pawlenty, or Gingrich wins the GOP nomination, then no. But if a teabagger like Bachmann were to somehow surge ahead and win the nomination, then I think it's very likely that Trump could run as an independent. He would go after the "fiscal conservatives", effectively splitting the GOP vote much like Perot did in '92.

With all the apathy that I think we're going to be facing next year, I think this could be a good thing if it were to happen.

1. Once Trump finds out he has to open up his financial records, he is out
I just don't see him doing that.

3. To what end? Feeding his narcisism, or is there another motive?
I don't see the up side for him if he isn't going to run. If he does run, I predict he won't last much beyond Iowa and New Hampshire.

5. Why Doesn't Anyone Get This?
Trump is NOT running for President!!! This is nothing more than a P.R. stunt and a way to get some free publicity for his TV show and his "brand name" (which is really just himself).

Think about it. When was the LAST time Trump was running for President? When he was selling a book. And now, guess what. He's got another book coming out.

I don't know why people aren't grasping this. Donald Trump doesn't WANT to be President. You can't make enough money as an elected official. Just ask Sarah Failin.

How about Rick Scott? He's only worth about $200 million or so

9. Bachman is toast
She's said even too many stupid things for the tea partiers to take her seriously, and the country-clubber establishment Republicons won't let her speak at the convention. I'd love it if such an obvious nutcase were the Repuke nominee, but even they're not that idiotic to nominate this harpy.

12. You win the thread.
I for one am happy to see her in the headlines because it keeps the right's intellectually stunted crackpots front and center. Her and Palin. Make them the face of the Republican party and we benefit.
