government shutdown
since the repukes dont want to compromise and are willing to shut the government down unless they get their pet projects of defunding planned parenthood, stopping the epa from regulating geeenhouse gases etc,the dems should call their bluff. propose the following budget cuts . Tell the GOP that they dems are cutting 200B from the budget efective immediatley. however they are doing it this way.
cutting 200b from defense.. bringin all our troops home. closing all our overseas bases. tell the GOP to take it or leave it.
the GOP needs to learn that just because they controll 1 house they dont control all of it. Obama as CinC could order all troops home tomorrow if teh GOP doesnt agree to to whatever they dems propose.

If teh GOP want to play hardball, the dems should play hardball right back at them

1. OR how about just defunding all those CDBG grants that
are sent to the R's districts - no more money for Boner's district.

Blackmail is a game lots of folks can play.

on a bill it became law automatically. they are trying to subvert the checks and balances

4. Then they'd accuse the democrats of playing politics with the troops.

Either the wars are essential or they're not. I happen to think that the wars are not only humongous wastes of money, but a travesty on the world stage. But if the democrats were to do something like this, I'd imagine it could come back to bite them VERY quickly. If the cuts aren't made, then it would be seen as using the military as a carrot. If the cuts were made, it could be stated that there was never any urgency to the wars to begin with. I just don't see that working out well.
