Should there be a sympathy boycott of big business during the Tea party shutdown?

How can we indulge ourselves while others in our society are going broke? Conserve gas, shut off all unnecessary appliances, boycott the de facto supporters of the Republican Tea Party--big business.

1. Some kind of involuntary boycott is inevitable

A lot of people aren't going to receive paychecks if the government shuts down. That means they won't have any money to spend. That means businesses are going to suffer too.

It's all part of the GOP's plan to re-crash the economy.

5. If it makes you feel good, do it. I don't think big business will notice much.

Boycotts are usually about making the boycotter feel good about their personal choice unless the boycott is local and focussed (usually). Wide and broad spread boycotts as you suggest make you feel good but are not successful because they are not focussed and never get any great support to be noticed.
