2. In Estes Park, the town just outside Rocky Mountain national park
There is a herd of Elk that walk around town When we were there, they were on the golf course and people were golding around them. The Ranger told me that they have two herds, one in the park and one in the town.

4. Lived there for 16 years
Love Estes Park. My husband (then) played a lot of golf and was always amused when he had to play around the elk on the course.

When I worked at the YMCA of the Rockies we had a resident bull everyone knew as Sampson. Except for the rutting season he was quite gentle and regularly made his way to the main office where the office folks would crack the door open, reach around with an arm stretched out to give him apples. We saw him most everyday for years. A friend has a pair of his antlers that he dropped one year. He followed him for two weeks in order to get the pair. He was an impressive big bull.

Sadly he was found killed by a poacher. If you remember driving into EP and saw the big bronze elk statue? That was modeled after Sampson.
