What incentive dose Congress have to get a budget deal done? |
|
They keep getting their fat checks even if the government shuts down.

But evidently - all of his 'special investigations' staff are essential . . . so they'll be there manning the phones - and I won't be able to get through to him directly.

Congress has agreed not to take paychecks during a shutdown. I could be wrong and it may just be Democratic congress members.

6. Not being voted out of office if the electorate is pissed by a shutdown. |
|
It happened in 1996.
Might not happen now if: 1) the electorate doesn't blame the true perpetrators; 2) voter suppression efforts keep a lot of the pissed electorate from being part of the electorate; or 3) voting machines don't reflect actual votes.
