Wisconsin Progressives Collect 9,000 More Signatures Than Needed To Oust Philandering Republican Senator
http://thinkprogress.org/2011/04/07/randy-hopper-recall-filed/

Democrats and labor activists are ready to file another recall petition in Wisconsin, as they are expected to submit nearly 24,000 signatures against state Sen. Randy Hopper (R). Only about 15,000 signatures are needed to successfully trigger a recall. It will mark the second time in less than a week that a recall petition has been successfully filed against a Wisconsin Senate Republican, after organizers submitted about 22,000 signatures against Sen. Dan Kapanke (R) last Friday.

Among the signatures may be those of Hopper’s former maid and his estranged wife. (Hopper is reportedly having an affair with a former staffer and now lives outside of his district.) His wife has even indicated that she will contribute to whomever runs against Hopper in a recall election.

Two recent polls have shown that Hopper is trailing a generic Democrat in a recall election. As many as six other GOP state senators could be recalled after their votes to support Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) anti-worker “budget” bill last month.

2. Republican response to randy Randy Hopper scandal...
Wisconsin Republicans announced today that they have established a new entity to prevent future scandals like the one hitting randy Randy Hopper.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzpatrick today announced the formation of Wisconsin House Of Republican Ethics and Sanctimony (WHORES), with this press release

"We are setting up WHORES for the purpose of:

..preventing selection of candidates with names like "Randy Hopper", which are way too easy to ridicule.

..making sure all Republican Senators maintain apartments in their home districts, in case the press finds out their wives haven't seen them in eight months.

..handing out WHORES literature outside local "mega-churches" each Sunday after services.

..making sure Republican lobbyist groups don't have names like "Persuasive Partners".

Said Fitzgerald: "We're sure our Republican colleagues are going to be very pleased with the services provided by WHORES."

4. They probably need to shoot for 35,000 votes to oust him.
Hopefully, more than that so it sends a message. And hopefully, those that normally would vote for him don't bother voting.

5. On Tuesday I had several voters sign the recall for Grothman after...

...having signed one (incorrectly) for Hopper. They live in Fond du Lac County, but in Grothman's, not Hopper's, district. Those signatures will be voided when the addresses are checked.

Good to have lots of extras.

6. I meant the number of votes they will need to defeat him on election day.
Since the number needed had to be 25% of the last election.
