LOL! Local Republican party cites Talking Points Memo in cautionary email.
Just got this email from the local county GOP group:

We received information today about a fake GOP organization – pretending to be
collecting money for the party to fight Obama’s agenda.

One of our GOP activitists was contacted by a hard-sale organization and she immediately
started questioning them. They just kept stating how bad Obama is - and why she needed
to give money to their organization. Of course, she was very suspicious and decided to
contact U.S. Congressman Sam Johnson’s office. Below is the response she just received…

"Hey there! Check out the article above about the Republican Majority Campaign
(RMC). I found them on the FEC and they have no cash on hand…looks like it was all spent
last cycle. You’ll notice in the article that less than 2% of the money went to
Republican candidates. I think your instincts were correct!!"

PLEASE make sure that ALL your contacts know that they need to KNOW and verify who they
are giving to… There are plenty of legitimate GOP avenues – Local, State, and National
GOP party funds as well as worthy organizations like the Liberty Institute, the Heidi
Group, Raging Elephants, Eagle Forum, and the list goes on… But just make sure that
everyone in your address book knows that wherever they give, it is a bona fide,
established organization where the money goes to the cause that they intend for it to go
to… not to line some scammers’ pockets!

Additionally, please help get the word out. These types of organizations have been
around for a long time, but with our current national financial budget crisis, people are
panicking… These organizations are raking in cash under false pretenses – and our
beloved GOP coffers are suffering in the process!

The suspicious activist called Rep. Sam Johnson's office who verified her suspicions with an article they found at Talking Points Memo, a liberal website.

The local party has just sent out an email to everyone on their list using Talking Points Memo as proof of a GOP fundraising scam.

Awesome.

Maybe I should forward this email to TPM?

1. Definitely forward it to them.
Although, I'm sure Josh is already aware of it and probably hasn't stopped laughing long enough to put together a piece on it.

:toast:
