The 27-year-old son of a prominent supporter of Gov. Scott Walker resigned from his state government job following public criticism over his appointment to an $81,500-per-year job in the Walker administration, sources said Thursday.

Brian Deschane submitted his resignation letter to officials at the state Department of Commerce, where he had been named administrator of environmental and regulatory matters in February.

Walker announced that Deschane would return to his previous position as a bureau director at the Department of Regulation and Licensing. He was appointed to that $64,728-per-year position in mid-January at the recommendation of Walker's chief of staff, Keith Gilkes.

It is not clear why Deschane chose to resign rather than accept the demotion. A directory of Department of Regulation and Licensing employees shows that Secretary Dave Ross filled Deschane's post after he left.

There has got to be something he is hiding, though, and doesn't want it to come out now. That's my feeling on it, anyways. Something is going on somewhere or, like the reporter asked, "why didn't he just accept the demotion"?

When this story found daylight, he was power-demoted.

Daddy has bucks, son gets job, son gets better job, story goes public, son gets demoted then son gets tossed over the rail.
