Not a functioning brain cell among them.
And all, I'm sure, sucking off the government teat, as they call it.

Let's cut retirement payments to ex-military. I think that's pretty damn extreme.

.. the Republicans have bent Obama over every time, he folds like a paper napkin so now they expect to roll him again.
If he'd had a spine in dealing with them before he wouldn't be playing the moving goalpost game with them right now.
As for a shutdown, I believe that it will marginally hurt the Republicans more than the Dems but nobody really knows.

If they'd gotten this mess done LAST YEAR we wouldn't be dealing with this crap now.
But, nah, that wouldn't have been prudent. Better to wait until Republicans are running things.....

13. I think it's ok to put the blame on Obama and the Dems, at least a good part of it. |
|
The Dems had all three units at that time - White House, Senate, and House. One does tend to wonder why we are still dickering with continuing resolutions six months into the fiscal year.
Fiscal year begins Oct 1, budget for new year due, dems in control, elections not until Nov. - didn't they know well before Oct 1 the budget was due for the new fiscal year? It is, after all, the same time every year.
So yeah, a good portion of the blame can go there.

one of the three groups controlled by the party of the guy in charge (ostensibly.)
Too much worry about re-elections, not enough about running stuff.

"You can't stand the truth!"
What did happen last year when the budget was due, as it is every year at the same time? Quite likely it was a case of more people worrying about being reelected than doing what they were paid to do.
Then, many were not reelected, but still had time prior to cleaning out their desks, and yet continued to fail to do what they were being paid to do.
edited to change an 'is' to 'it'

We all know how they feel about people on welfare. As far as everyone else who will be hurt, it's just a small price to pay for them.

28. I talked with a very nice Republican yesterday, who said... |
|
she and hubby watch Fox news. and did I know, she asked, that under Obama the price of gas has gone all the way up to 3.89 a gallon but when Bush took office it was only 1.89. ( I felt like saying, Under President Kennedy Gas Prices Decreased by 1 Cents per Gallon, and under FDR it was REAL cheap)
THEN she tells me she thinks the shutdown is a good idea, BUT she is worried that if the government shuts down, she and her husband may not get their Soc. Sec. check and Medicare.
Totally went over her head what she said. I just listened, fascinated by this magnificent demonstration of cognitive dissonance.

30. Mr. d says they are stupid. I disagree. |
|
I think they are ignorant, because they do some very smart things. They manage to make money and build their houses, raise their family, do all of the things that are important in these Southern communities. But, they are under-educated, usually do not read often, ( the husband in this case is functionally illiterate) have few critical thinking skills. they are ignorant, not stupid. Joe Bageant understood that very well.
Oh, and this family fixes my roof when I need it, raises the organic beef I buy, will come over in 24 hours if I ever need help.
Nothing really is black and white about "them" vs "us".

36. Interestingly, we have teabaggers in the north also. I would not say they are ignorant. Selfish |
|
is a better description. They got theirs, and screw everyone else. Until, of course, they hit a rough patch in life, then they are all over the "government gravy train"
You comment about them having "few critical thinking skills" is spot on. The fact that they ALL watch and believe everything they see on faux news, is proof of that!
