Rachel Maddow - Republicans hate the Post Office
http://www.postalnewsblog.com/2011/04/06/rachel-maddow-this-little-republicans-hate-the-post-office-hearing/

Rachel Maddow’s take on yesterday’s “Oversight” hearing and of course she always nails it. Lots of things in the report that I didn't know or had forgotten.

Enjoy

1. Thanks so much for posting this! K&R.
And you're right, Rachel is the best. She always explains even the most complicated issues so clearly that anyone can understand it. Great stuff! :applause:

2. Listen carefully
to Rachel.

I had not anticipated that the US Post Office would become an actual icon that represents what we are facing and fighting for, but there you have it. It stands out now as an effigy for the battle we find ourselves in the midst of.

We are in a true crises, and everything we value that is not of the financial, corporate, or wealthy interests is at stake. The only good thing about that is that we can no longer turn our heads or imagine this to be some sort of abstract issue in our lives. We are facing the end of our way of life and we can clearly see who and what will replace it. We can also see, as the classes who are not liquid and monied, that we will not have any stake or say in what will result from our failure to fight for what we know we are entitled to and worked to create. Our failure, at this juncture, could prove to be the greatest capitulation and surrender that has ever been known historically, considering the wealth, resources and assets at stake.

This is the big one and you are personally a real part of the the outcome and the future from which future generations will look back on. What kind of legacy are you going to leave the future? How critical does your personal and political situation have to get before you start to change your personal priorities and commit your energies and lifestyle changes towards the solution that you know, in your heart and mind, to be the most just? Or are you still living in a Simulation where nothing but the inculcated beliefs you have been given decide for you how this will all turn out?

4. and how many of these Government Employees who will be furloughed
are veterans?

I remember, veterans/former military got preferences in hiring, even more than the "affirmative action" preferences ...

5. Happy to K&R this! Repubs are such assholes!
The way they speak to the head of the postal workers union and postmaster general is appalling! This is another example of the kind of news that Americans need to see - instead of the Charlie Sheen updates and other "infotainment" that passes as news in this country.

7. Rachel is one of the last of the true journalists...
You have to wonder how long before she's pushed out for telling the truth.
