Good news from La Crosse recall against Kapanke: we have a candidate.
http://lacrossetribune.com/news/local/article_88c6a300-619c-11e0-8964-001cc4c03286.html

State Rep. Jennifer Shilling will challenge Republican Sen. Dan Kapanke in a potential 32nd District recall election, according to a source in the Democratic Party. She stopped short of confirming her candidacy Thursday, advising people “to stay tuned” for an announcement at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Northside Oktoberfest Grounds in Copeland Park.

Shilling chose Copeland Park — also the home field of Kapanke’s La Crosse Loggers baseball team — because it long has been the site for the annual Labor Day picnic to salute union workers.

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse political scientist Joe Heim expects it to be tough election. “She’s probably the toughest candidate out there for Dan,” he said. “I would expect a pretty tight race.”

Kapanke became the target of a recall effort after voting in favor of Gov. Scott Walker’s controversial budget repair law that would strip the majority of state union workers of most collective bargaining rights. The state Government Accountability Board has yet to certify the signatures required to trigger a recall.

This will be a summer recall election and every Democrat or Independent who supports workers' rights and wants to see Kapanke out had better get their asses to the polls and support Schilling. We have a strong candidate. No excuses, no "I'm too busy, it's summer", "I've got softball league", "we're grilling out". No excuses, none. Goddamnit! get out there and VOTE!.

1. Woooo Hoooooooooooooooooo
I was wondering who would step up!

THANK YOU to JENNIFER SHILLING!!! :yourock:

and when I take a break from my rule-breaking sign-holding in the Capitol, I'll find her office and thank her and her staff myself! :D

...I know, I know, it's not been formally announced yet...

2. More on Jennifer Schilling from Ballotpedia:
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Jennifer_Shilling#2010

She is my state representative and won reelection last fall by a nearly 2/1 margin. She is the strongest candidate we have here in La Crosse to run in the recall election against Kapanke.

6. Also, Kloppenburg won this district by 60-40, I think the recall election
will be tighter than that, but this is the one the Dems would have the best chance of winning.

7. A prelude to this election will be the special election to fill the Assembly seat
vacated by Mike Huebsch who is serving his new master, governor Walker. This will be for the 94th district and Jennifer Schilling represents the 95th. It is therefore very important to get a good turnout here to support the Democratic candidate, Steve Doyle, who is well known in the area.
