From Harry Reid's twitter... |
|
"Only sticking point left is extreme measure that would cut off funding 2 women’s health centers that provide services like cancer screenings"
So it seems like this is the mountain the republicans have chosen to die on, Planned Parenthood. Screw them!

The Democratic members of the Senate, lead by Reid are supporting a compromise on the table will cut funds the support child nutrition programs.
Reid's willingness is self evident and unfortunate

18. No it is not "self-evident". It is total bullshit speculation |
|
You have no idea what the details of the compromise are.
For me to believe your theory, I would have to be stupid enough to believe that the Democrats are drawing the line on Planned Parenthood and have given in on everything else. Defunding the EPA, defunding HCR, etc.
Logically that doesn't make any sense. They give up everything else and fight for planned parenthood? PREPOSTEROUS.

19. You need to look at the real world |
|
Cuts are coming and Dems are supporting it, maybe not all that willingly, but they will vote for it. That much is well documented. The disagreement is over how deep and which ones this year. The details are being fought over at this point pales alongside the agreed to cuts.

20. Of course cuts are coming. Everybody knows that. |
|
Everybody knows that the fight is about where the cuts are going to be.
My problem is a when DU'ers act as if they know where the cuts are going to be and make fact free outrageous statement that 'Harry Reid is willing to starve children.'

22. Yes the wording was hyperbole, but it is also true. |
|
Cuts are being made in social programs, including those involving nutrition and Dems are voting for it.

Throw women under the bus (which they did already with the HCR debacle) and they'll find out the true meaning of jihad.

7. Have they agreed to the defunding of HCR? I doubt it, and the EPA either |
|
I doubt they have done that, and I doubt they have dismantled the EPA so the Krotch Brothers can up their Pollution Quotient.

16. If they have drawn the line at Planned Parenthood, what makes you think |
|
that they have agreed to the defunding of HCR and shutting down the EPA?
Your line of reasoning issn't logical.

21. What line of reasoning? |
|
I didn't say I knew what they also agreed to. But whenever our current group of elected Democrats get into a room with Republicans we always wind up giving things up.
Maybe not HCR, and maybe not the EPA. But did they agree to cuts to Medicare? Medicaid? Any other social programs that help poor people?
I really wouldn't put it past our Democratic leadership to throw any number of things under the bus.

AND federal funds cannot be used to fund abortions. Republicans hate women and most especially POOR women.

|
down the government. I told them we all want them to put these issues aside. I told the guy we didn't vote for you to take women's rights away and we didn't vote to take away NPR. He tried to blame the senate. I told him I blamed the house because they already new the senate wasn't going to pass their bill. They are trying to make democrats look like fools. I told him the republicans are screwing women and we are watching and they will lose the next election. I told them cooperation isn't a dirty word.
