I have friend who works for the Gov't, trying to close on a house now |
|
If she can after the gov't shuts down and her pay stops.
After the realtor would get their commission, she was going to hire a contractor to work on the house (the foundation) --and he'd hire laborers to help him do the heavy duty work.
And the effects I just told you about...it does not even talk about the contracts with the private sector in her office. A gov't shutdown would stop work on all those. In some agencies, like NASA or others, the government workers are just a fraction of the workforce, with many contract employees in the private sector funded by the government and working at the direction or oversight of government employees.
A lot of that work stops.
I was told NIH is trying to figure out how to keep their experiments runnings while they are away and locked out of their offices.
A gov't shutdown is the ultimate anti-stimulus and will reverberate through the economy for months.

1. It seems that if it doesn't make sense, then it will happen. Today's reality. nt |

That is what the Repugs are banking on for 2012...to lay the bad economy at Obama's feet. :puke:
