Christie takes a cheap shot at Springsteen
He can’t help himself, our governor. In less than a year and a half, he’s demonized more people than the Salem witch trials — if they had been run by Judge Judy: Democrats. Teachers. Superintendents. Public workers. State Supreme Court justices. Regular Joes at town hall meetings. Snooki. Other governors.

And now he’s taking potshots at one of his (supposed) idols: Bruce Springsteen. The Boss got, as they say, CC'd (in other words, Chris Christie’d) in an interview with Diane Sawyer on Wednesday night. Here’s what Christie said:

“Bruce is liberal. Doesn’t mean I like him any less. But you know, Bruce believes that we should be raising taxes all the time on everyone to do all the things that he’d like to see government do.”

With heroes like that, who needs enemies?

Very smart. Who's next in his firing line? Jon Bon Jovi?

5. He's just still PO ed that Springsteen wouldn't play at his
inaugural fest.

At the time he was sucking up to Bruce saying he was such a huge fan and had been to oodles of shows.

Maybe hell hath no fury than a RW governor scorned.

8. And Christy likes to cut taxes so he has to eliminate things he doesn't want govt to do
I guess he thinks that makes him "The Boss" in NJ, but good luck usurping the admiration held by Springsteen. And no Christie, those crowds aren't calling you "Brooooce".

11. Know Your Christie History!
1. The man was a mediocre insurance defense lawyer.
2. His wife and his brother worked for wall street brokers Cantor Fitzgerald.
3. He used his family wealth and connections to raise money for George Bush and was a "Bush Ranger".
4. He parlayed his fund-raising activities into an appointment as US Attorney despite ZERO experience as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney or trial attorney.
5. He used his office's resources to prosecute anybody he could use to increase his name recognition, including prosecuting some knucklehead suburban dad as a "terrorist" for screwing around at night with an astronomical laser pointer.
6. He used ethically questionable tactics to troll up some high profile political prosecutions of some dirt-bag local politicos.
7. His brother was involved in some questionable dealings as a trader that should have been investigated by the US Attorney's office but....He was the US Attorney.
8. He now makes his name by following the right wing playbook and talking like he's some kind of tough guy. He's not. He's just some fat suburban kid who got bullied in high school and is now returning the favor.

I'd like to call him an empty suit but there's just too much of him. What a charade of a person. How do people fall for this crap?

17. You've Got That Right
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 11:27 AM by Dread Pirate Roberts
I forgot to add the part where he served one term in a meaningless do-nothing county office and managed to get sued by his primary opponents for libel and slander. A suit that resulted in an "undisclosed" settlement. Imagine what it takes to actually have to pay for libel and slander in a political context where almost anything goes under the guise of political free speech! What a creep.

. . . didn't he try to talk his way out of his responsibility for a car accident in which someone was injured?

Nice guy, huh? :sarcasm:

21. This stuff is only the tip of the iceberg
This guy is a no substance creep who only spews talking points. The media has given him a free pass on his track record and his rhetoric because he makes for such entertaining sound bites. If it wasn't for his family connections he would be driving for the Gotham Bus Company! To the moon Alice!

14. Christie's loyalty is to the wealthiest in his state, and he knows damn well
it is bad for the state..but who cares, he won and will be another asshole Governor for a state that deserves much better.

Editorial: N.J. Gov. Chris Christie's opposition to millionaires tax is at odds with his 'shared sacrifice' rhetoric

18. The Republican vs. the Liberal Strawman
is always an epic debate. You get to hear what Republicans think, and then get to hear them tell you what they think liberals think.

Yet the media allows them to do it, over and over and over.

20. We want to see those making millions in annual income pay their fair share of taxes.
That will include, capital gains being taxed as regular income, as opposed to the discounted rate of 15%.
