The Republican Shutdown Dilemma
Today, Uncle KKKarl has weighed in, warning his fellow Repugs that a shutdown, as in 1995 and 1996, would hurt their cause and give a boost to their Democratic opponent in the White House.

So, cut a deal, right? Not so fast! On the other side, you've got the "shut the sucker down!" teabaggers, who want a shutdown as a symbolic gesture. An accord that keeps business as usual is going to be greeted by them with enough fury to make the progressive ire at losing the public option look like a minor disagreement. Just as then, you'll be hearing words like "traitor" and "sellout" being flung, except it will be worse...because, in the teabaggers' eyes, it will be a case of betraying "true American values" and selling out to that Kenyan-born Muslim anti-Christ. :eyes:

So, given that dilemma, what should we on the left do? My personal response would be to
