Kathy Nickolaus - the County Clerk who "found" the ballots

PPC has repeatedly crossed paths with Ms. Nickolaus, and we can offer a distinctive perspective on recent events in Wisconsin: she would have been willing to steal the election if she could have, but I don't think she got the chance.

It's important to understand first that Nickolaus was at the very center of a conspiracty to embezzle millions of dollars of public money, which was secretly used to create voter lists for the Wisconsin Republican Party. (Unfortunately, that operation was matched by an exact mirror-image, which was operating on behalf of the Democrats.) By the time it was all over, both the Speaker of the Assembly (Republican) and the Majority Leader of the State Senate (Democrat) were convicted and sent to prison. Nickolaus was granted immunity from prosecution in exchange for her testimony, but there isn't the slightest doubt that she was involved in huge diversions of public funds.

My funniest encounter with her involved PPC's collection of data from her office. We needed to photograph ten or twenty thousand pages of election records, at Waukesha, and because she knew we were Democrats, she set to work creating barriers. She finally seized upon the bizarre claim that altough we had every right to LOOK at the records, we had no right to use "her" electricty in copying them. We got her to place that statement in writing, and then simply rigged up a marine battery - like an auto battery, but operating at 6 volts. It provided enough power to run our camera and lights all day, and could be recharged overnight.

She was so angry at being outsmarted that she simply left the office while we worked.

2. More on Nickolaus' Dirty Tricks and What We can Expect More of From Repubs
"This error seems more than fishy given the past working relationship Kathy Nickolaus has had with David Prosser. For thirteen years Nickolaus worked for the Wisconsin State Assembly Republican Caucus as a data analyst and computer specialist. During that time Prosser served in powerful elected positions in the State Assembly.

Before Kathy Nicklous resigned in 2002 from her partisan job she was granted immunity to testify about her role in the caucus. The Republican Caucus was under investigation for using state resources (tax dollars) to secretly run campaigns.

There is no way that I buy into Kathy Nickolaus’ near-tearful explanation of how Brookfield was misplaced when counting and adding the numbers. There is no degree of plausibility given all we know about her. Kathy Nicklous’ partisan dealings that landed her in the legal arena makes this latest, and most unbelievable turn of events, not rising to the smell test.

Kathy Nickolaus’ lack of professionalism is underscored by the fact Waukesha County has what can only be described as an outdated and rickety means of keeping tabs of votes cast. She has insisted the county results be kept on an antiquated personal computer, rather than upgrade to a new data system being utilized statewide. "
