Just a thought; "Can WI Supreme Court Justices be Recalled"?
If this "found vote" crap stands, can the good people of WI add another wingnut Conservative recall petition to the hopper?

1. I believe they can, BUT
only after they've been in office a year. A Justice's term begins in August, so August 2012 will be the soonest petitions can be filed.

2. Might be good to start collecting signatures now
while this is fresh in the mind.

5. Can't do that either...
Signatures can be collected for a 60-day period only. About all that can be done right now is collecting names of people who would be willing to sign a petition, so that if/when one is circulated, they can be notified. That's what's going on right now with the Walker recall--I'm sure that list will be helpful for other recalls, too.

3. Only if we can do a better job of educating the public on our views.

4. Why do you suppose the results would be any different?
If you push endless recalls eventually the public is going to turn on you.

This vote was a referendum on Walker's agenda and everyone knows it. The results, whether we win or lose by a very tiny margin, show the Wisconsin people aren't as massively on our side as many people believed. No matter the result, almost exactly half the Wisconsin voting public marched out to the polls and effectively supported union busting and Walker's radical right wing agenda.

6. A referendum that was so important that only 1/3 of the voters statewide voted.
One would think that given the protests in Madison that Democrats would have been much more motivated to turn out and vote than Republicans, but evidently not. Yes, the turnout was better than expected, but one might have expected a much greater percentage of Democrats would have voted compared to Republicans.

It may well be true that the Wisconsin people are not on our side as massively as we believed and that makes it absolutely vital that Democrats and agreeing Independents get out and vote. Otherwise all of the current strutting about how we are going to get rid of Walker will turn into a feast of eating crow.

7. Yes, I agree with your comments here...
However this turns out, it was terribly close and I was very disappointed we were not able to win by a comfortable margin.

Precisely. This is why I was pointing out that endlessly calling for recalls is dangerous. If you make a stand and lose, the opposition is often stronger and bolder. If it turns out we lost this Supreme Court race, how do you think Prosser is going to react. He will now have a fresh 10 year term and he knows why his supporters turned out.

If we run recalls on these state Senators and only pick off one or its a wash because they knock off one of ours, the Republicans will consider that a big victory. They will have pushed a union busting agenda, succeeded in passing it, and managed to hold us off at the ballot box.
