Boehner and the republicans didn't threaten Bush over abortion
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 03:10 PM by Contrary1
John Boehner is threatening to shut the government down over abortion. But these same Republicans didn't threaten George Bush with government shutdown over the same issue, even though they controlled congress for much of Bush's reign. Did people really think they were getting this when they voted Republican during the last election?

I have been no fan of the Democrats in the past, holding them responsible for the housing crisis along with the Republicans. Both parties were beholden to the international banker cartel. Both parties allowed the repeal of Glass-Steagall. Both parties looked the other way while the easy money machine artificially drove up prices on real estate and ruined many with the ensuing crash.

But with regard to the government shutdown over abortion, it seems to show the height of irresponsibility on the part of the Republicans. The Democrats exceeded the dollar amount of cuts required by the Republicans. They got what they wanted. The Democrats compromised.

<snip>

Certainly, Sensenbrenner of Alabama wants more ponzi schemes, as he is totally against the Volcker Rule that sought to bring sanity to the banking system. So, perhaps cutting food to seniors is what Republicans want in exchange for the opportunity to attack mainstreet with more immoral lending schemes? I think so. Talk about morality!

So, before we go too far in praising the Republicans as the party of morality, we can see that they want ponzi lending, immoral recklessness, gambling with depositors money, more wars for resources, desire for your social security money in order to generate needless fees, etc. They even want to bet on your death with insurance policies!

3. They knew Bush would sign anything re Abortion. The Republicans
will never really try to end Abortion if they control
all Houses. They know there would be Civil War and
they would get the bleame.

They try to force a Democrat a Democrat to end Abortion
because the blame will be shared.

There have been times they could have ended Roe V Wade
and they did not. They like having an Issue to keep
their working class in tow. Distract them with Oh we
are really fighting your morality fight and at the
same time cut everything that helps working class.

Lookey here Psst Lookey Here we are doing your business
on Planned Parenthood ---while we cut everything that
might help you financially.

4. Elementary: We didn't have deficits during the Bush years
Or they didn't matter then, because we were at war. Besides, Dick Cheney said that Reagan proved deficits don't matter, at least while Republicans are camped in the White House. And, of course, the Republican argument that trumps everything: That was then, this is now. It's such a part of their philosophy, they don't even have to say it, and the popular media obligingly forgets all about everything Republicans have done in the past so they can focus better on what they're saying right this second.

5. For the rethug party abortion has always been the carrot they hold
out in front of their members to entice them into voting rethug. They are still using it and have done almost nothing to stop it like they promise. This is no different - they are bitching about paying for abortions with taxpayer money and it has always been illegal to do so. They are offering nothing to their followers here. Just another carrot. What they are doing is trying to break government all together.

6. Spot on!!
And their pathetic followers are seemingly stupid enough to believe that carrot is real! Or crooked enough to pretend it is!
