Pink Slip Rick - Teachers, nurses and unemployed deliver pink slips to Prick Scott
Posted: 9:49 PM Apr 7, 2011
Pink Slip Rick
An angry crowd of teachers, nurses, and unemployed people stormed the governor’s office Thursday to ask Rick Scott, where are the jobs? Scott was out of town, but the crowd delivered hundreds of pink slips to his secretary and told him the governor’s got to go.

<SNIP>

The group claims Scott has eliminated 330-thousand jobs, and has yet to create one. Here’s how they came up with the figure. First they say Scott’s rejection of federal dollars for high speed rail cost the state 113-thousand jobs. Then they say that Scott’s plan to privatize Medicaid, which could deprive the state of billions of federal matching dollars, would eliminate 135-thousand. That brings the total about 260-thousand. The rest, they say, would come from privatizing prisons, cutting education funding, and laying off state workers.

2. Get OUT of Paradise
Is sunshine really worth this? If you are a transplant, as 2/3 of Florida's population is, go back to your family and loved ones where you came from.

When people LEAVE, and they cannot get anyone to replace them, see what happens.

5. I do, and will
This is why Florida will never be a Wisconsin. It is what Rick Scott and the Repukes count on.

6. I was BORN here and can't just pick up and leave
Aside from the fact that I own property that I can't sell for anything near what it is worth to me, my elderly parents still live here in Florida and I am already too far away from them considering their state of health. Besides, I plan to be buried on this property if I can hold on to it that long.

7. Willing to let the house go into foreclosure
I have no family here. My daughter (then 29) left after only living here for 4 months. "Nice place to visit." "Horrible, place to live."

You see, Rick Scott, and his ilk, is counting on businesses relocating here. Not going to happen. Worked at a Mega Corporation which nixed that idea years ago. Not Cheap enough? No, they could get enough people to relocate. Or find enough "brain power" already living here.

Floridian may not like this, but it's the truth. Not many people across the country want to relocate here.

8. I've been on this farm for over 30 years
It's paid for. My biggest financial burdens are property taxes and medical co-pays. If I left this place I have to get enough to support me for the rest of my life - in style. That is what it would take for me to give up this farm we basically took from a garbage dump and turned into a beautiful place to be. It would almost kill me to allow a developer to come in, clear cut the trees we planted, chase off the wildlife we've encouraged and cut this property into little lots.

I no longer support the local economy like I used to. I used to run a business here. No longer. I thought about starting another one. No way. With the Repubs running the country into the ground I will not attempt another business. I will spend as little as possible, travel as little as I can, and keep as few dollars as possible going to support Prick Scott's agenda.

And if I am physically able, I will volunteer for candidates in the elections next year. I am not sure if that will be possible - I may be doing physical therapy after knee replacement, the way things are going now.

9. Yeah OK Hockeymom
I'll just sell my house ($50K below what I bought it for), quit our jobs, pull my kids out of school, and leave. I moved from Ohio 3 years ago. Really? Please think before you post this kind of stuff.

i'd rather stay and fight anyway.

4. The comments are a real hoot
They start out with a few thoughtful ideas and interpretations then come the nut jobs. Spouting buzz words and talking points they expect that ideas that have been proven wrong over decades are finally going to work.
Electing a former CEO (aka ripoff artist) is foolish at best and to me, really, really stupid.
Government isn't a corporation and doesn't have the same goals.
