End the bush tax cuts and then raise taxes on the same people even more.

Cut the defense budget to make up the rest.

Instead, we get to watch these fuckers fuck around fucking us.

Although I'm all for cutting out pork, I'd like to cut out waste in the military but, I'm really not all that much for taking major chunks out of the Military budget.

10. Progressivism
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 05:46 PM by 90-percent
The entire nation, including myself, needs to be educated on the history of progressive taxation.

The current stupid people that we elected seem to be oblivious to the destructive powers they are creating by manufacturing such an unhealthy concentration of wealth.

We all have to go out and re-fix stuff that was fixed 35 45 50 70 90 120 years ago!

This "if it ain't broke break it" Republicant law unmaking is ignorantly repeating the hard learned lessons and utter economic failures of our somewhat recent history.

the guts to talk about it. In contrast, every GOPer I see on TV says "We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem".

We shouldn't cut one damn thing until the Bush tax cuts are repealed and the corporations pay their taxes.

and neither are the gaping corporate tax loopholes ever to be closed nor defense spending ever to be pared: the only options are for what remains of the middle class to be taxed more and social security, Medicare, and every other program that provides for the nation's general welfare to be gutted. :patriot:

Let your members of congress know how you feel about this. If the refuse to listen, work HARD to elect ones who will. With unemployment so high, and congressional salaries also high, I would think lots of people would want to run.

55. We've got to have overwhelming votes at election time. Step one
there is to make sure that the voting system is scrupulously legitimate. That can be done.

Step two is to teach as many as possible to stop paying attention to the propaganda machine.

Step three: Stop fighting each other over personal cultural issues. These fights among ourselves keep us distracted from our goal of overturning the power of the rich crooks. (Not all rich people are crooks, of course.)

If we can regain the House, the Supreme Court and the White House, the first thing we'll do is kick the tax rate up to about 50% for those in the top 2%.

26. Its always someone else's fault? What happened to real, strong, passionate leadership?
Standing on the sidelines and looking inscrutable is a coverup for failings and weaknesses. Leaders lead.

When we had both houses, that one senator we were short was the excuse. It is a lot easier to make excuses when they control at least one house of Congress.

Its always about why we can't, isn't it?

What happened to why we ought to keep trying? That's what a real leader would do.

48. We need far more than that
All millionaires and billionaires in the country combined have assets of 12 trillion.

This includes small businesspeople and farmers whose business assets (buildings, farmland, tractors, tools, etc.), plus their house, plus their retirement savings is over $1 million in value.

People with a million in liquid assets probably have a far lower combined value than that.

But if you confiscated EVERYTHING right now we still couldn't even pay off the national debt, and we'd still have the same deficit.

Smart taxing needs to be combined with less waste all around or else we'll eventually be in exactly the same position in the future.
