Conservatives Urge Boehner to Cut a Budget Deal and Move On
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/08/conservatives-urge-boehner-to-cut-a-budget-deal-and-move-on/

(snip)
For days, the assumption has been that Speaker John A. Boehner was dug into his hardened position on behalf of the conservatives in his House caucus and from socially conservative voices in the Republican Party.

But now — just hours before the first government shutdown in 15 years –some of the most vocal conservatives are urging Republicans to reach a deal before a shutdown occurs. That could give Mr. Boehner the political cover he needs to cut a deal with President Obama and the Democrats.

(snip)
Publicly at least, Ms. Bachmann and Mr. Huckabee are sending a message to Mr. Boehner that they fear voters will blame Republicans, and not President Obama, if a shutdown occurs. That message could help convince Mr. Boehner and the Republican budget negotiators to concede on some of the remaining issues.

Others have chimed in, too. Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, one of the more conservative Republicans in the Senate, told Bloomberg’s Al Hunt that Republicans should “probably” give up on the policy “riders” that have been holding up negotiations.

1. Huckabee to GOP: make a deal
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2011/04/08/huckabee-to-gop-make-a-deal/
Former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee advised Republicans in Congress to strike a budget deal, warning a government shutdown will hurt the GOP politically.

"Don't let the government shutdown because the consequences of that are going to hurt the Republicans, not the Democrats and the Republicans can't win this battle when it gets down to it," Huckabee said Friday on the Fox Business Network. "I think it's important that the Republicans don't jeopardize all of their chances for both the White House, Senate and the House elections in 2012 by arguing over what amounts to less than a penny."

2. Sorry, their shit got started, and they'll own it for life
Republicans don't give a SHIT about anyone except their 2%.

Greed is their lord and master of the universe.

They will need to understand that Republicans are 100% useless and have done absolutely zero to serve the people for the last 21 years - the only exception is when Bush the Elder signed the ADA into law. That was the most responsible bill that a Republican can come up with - and even Bush the Elder supported it, as he suffers from Graves' Disease.

6. That is the first time Coburn has got something right
in....like....forever. On the other hand, if a five day shutdown or so helps the incredibly fickle independent folks to finally understand what fuckwads the gopers are, it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. When Gingrich tried this shit in 95, we basically got about three years of reprieve fr the repug juggernaut. Unfortunately, I fear if it does shut down it won't be a five day deal, but could be weeks of pissing and posturing--which would hurt too many people.
