But really - I'm not sure. I've observed hardcore misogyny in my "friends" (ie forced dormmates) and don't understand at all how they came to adapt such whacked thought-processes. It's not just disregard for women in the worst cases; it's more like an active contempt for even the possibility that they are independent beings endowed with agency. I don't really get it, and if it were not such a social institution I think it would be regard as clinical sociopathy.

My best guess: as early teens they see a gorgeous woman, lust after this woman to an incredible degree, and eventually become resentful of the fact that the one thing they want above all is completely unlike anything they've wanted before: it can't be purchased (not with this woman anyway), created, sold, stolen (assume he's not that far gone yet), etc. . . it lies at the behest of a being's thoughts which he cannot alter, or even in many ways come to know. . . and this resentfulness festers into full-blown hate, eventually.'
