One thing to watch out for regarding the Wisconsin fiasco
what happens to the County Clerk. Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that she really made this big mistake. What the race had been decided by 7000 votes in the Dems favor instead of 242 or whatever it was? I presume there would have been a check made but it would likely have been pretty cursory. The votes may never have been found. In short, she could have cost them the race if this were a real mistake. Given that fact, her own people should be calling for her head on a pike before the next election comes around. It will be interesting to see if that happens.

1. You gave me a thought, we know she is a right-to-lifer and ergo
nutty. Could it be that she hid the votes hoping to draw attention to herself a'la Katherine Harris?

2. Do you know if ANY of the 'found' votes were for Kloppenburg? Don't know if
I've seen the numbers or not -- thanks.

6. Yes. Approximately 3K for Kloppenberg and 10K for Prosser.

Given that there was a screwup in the 2006 Republican primary (where a candidate "won" by a narrow margin and then fixing an error reversed the result) and that she sent out "sample ballots" in 2005 that were already marked for a candidate (and I'm not talking George Washington vs. Thomas Jefferson), I'd question her ability to do this job.

7. Something I'd like to know -- do they assign "voted" numbers to the absentee
Edited on Fri Apr-08-11 07:11 PM by gkhouston
voters at the beginning of the day, at the end of the day, or as a separate category? There was a tweet earlier today saying that a guy who voted in the wards 7-10 group in Brookfield got a number at 7:15pm. 30% of the total votes cast in wards 7-10 were cast after him. Not surprising, if there were lots of absentees and they're counted at the end of the day but pretty odd otherwise. Yes, you can vote as long as you're in line when the polls close, but Republicans stereotypically don't close the polls down the way Dems do. Maybe Brookfield is different.

8. They are either calling for her head, praising her...
...as an honest woman who made an honest mistake, or citing her as an example of "one of those civil service employees who can't be fired because of the unions".

Yes, I know. She's an elected official. But that doesn't stop the right from repeating their message.
