Can I just vent that this is some BULLSHIT!!!!

Look, i may not have been all that involved or well informed back in my college years :smoke: but i *did* understand that the govt shutdown was a debaucle and it caused millions of people grief and time and money that could not be recovered....
i also understand that the economy THEN was actually in relatively good shape and the 'hiccup' was not catastrophic, because it didn;t have as much of a ripple effect...

okay, so now the game is totally different. The economy is far from stable, people on welfare and foodstamps is WAY up, and the ramifications of the loss of livelyhoods is exponential because so many more people are hanging by a thread.
Add to that the fact that we are involved in WARS... and yet nobody talks about ever cutting the pentagon, do they?

I am fed up. I call bullshit. I don't care if it's rethugs or dems, they all have their heads up their asses on this one.

I say if THEY shut it down, WE should RUN on the Banks... fuck it all! everyone for themselves!!!

3. To them it is just a game...........
How many in congress really care about the people that they work for
If they worked for a corporation they would have been fired long ago.
I will start the list of congress people that have a soul and care..........

Sen. Al Franken - Minnesota

Anyone else want to add any names??

7. Sen Barbara Boxer. In fact, she tried to get a bill
Through that would have meant that Congress itself would be without pay should the shut down occur.

It was defeated, but at least she understands that the people causing the mess should be the first to suffer, and not the other way around.

4. Take a look at this thread FYI ...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x848623

median wealth of House members, 765k; Senate members, 2.3 million

I'm sure they relate well to the majority of Americans with their median wealth.

6. The government represents "we the people." That's how it's suppose to work, but
more and more it's become the government represents we the corporation, and we the corporations are here to serve ourselves at your expense.

Since they don't pay taxes, then I won't pay taxes.
