Ladies and gentlemen... the Republicans just screwed themselves hard.
Whatever level of spending cuts they do achieve--which is still in flux, and will be until the final compromise bill between the House and the Senate is passed--it's nothing compared to the fact that they just fucked themselves with their base. They stood up and told the pro-lifers and the Tea Party that they cannot and will not follow through on the promises that they made to destroy the federal government.

Aside from a few true believers, the Republicans in Congress don't want what their base wants. They don't want to ban abortion. They don't want to shred every government agency. They want to keep themselves in power, and they want to do that by using the Teabaggers and company. Tonight they stood up and told those folks that Boner, Cantor, and the other GOPers in the leadership are not true believers, and would never care about what the Tea Party cares about.

2. I agree.
I don't think the tea party is happy at all. As for our party, we are not in power, and democrats stood up and didn't back down on an issue that is very important to many democrats.

3. If you're referring to Planned Parenthood....it's not a done deal.
Lawrence O'Donnell said there will be an up or down vote on that next week in the Senate. AND, there's SO much more to the budget than Planned Parenthood, I think we should wait to see what the damage is.

5. It is 100% sure to go down in the Senate
That's a given, and the only reason the Democrats agreed to a vote.

8. I wouldn't be so sure
Rethugs would love to make an issue of a pro-PP vote in next year's election campaign, and there are a lot of Democratic Senators in vulnerable races. They might choose to vote against PP next week, hoping they can vote for a bill with PP funding later on down the line.

If they stand with PP, they may be risking their seats in some fairly red states.

7. They stood firm
They did not back down on that issue and to me that is very
important.

Also, Planned Parenthood is a core issue of the democratic
party and defunding planned parenthood is just chipping away
at woman's reproductive rights.

As far as the latter, I've said in another thread, I would
need to see the budget to have a full opinion either way, but
from what I do know, I'm very proud of the democrats and our
president.
