From the same administration that refuses to prosecute war crimes, goes after those who expose war crimes with unprecedented zeal, and has yet to indict a single Wall Street titan for fraud, we get this. Tell me again how this President is seen as a friend of the average American citizen.

1. If the "music thief" painted himself orange, called himself a Republican,
and started crying, the Obama administration would have AWARDED him $675,000.

5. That much is a given...
But what shouldn't be a given is the Administration doing the RIAA's bidding.

9. If that's true the average college student just got ~$1.8 million added to their debt @ graduation.
They will be working a long time to pay that off. Probably straight through up to the time they have kids kids themselves and acquire liability for their kids' K-thru-12 debts to the RIAA.

11. Obama picks RIAA's favorite lawyer for a top Justice post

snip

As president-elect, one of Obama's first tech-related decisions has been to select the Recording Industry Association of America's favorite lawyer to be the third in command at the Justice Department. And Obama's pick as deputy attorney general, the second most senior position, is the lawyer who oversaw the defense of the Copyright Term Extension Act--the same law that Lessig and his allies unsuccessfully sued to overturn.

snip

During his confirmation hearing, it will be instructive to see if senators ask whether his zealous anti-file sharing advocacy can make him an objective civil servant--especially when these same politicians want the Justice Department to sue peer-to-peer pirates at taxpayer's expense. (Then again, if that proposal becomes law, Perrelli's surely the right man for the job.)
