I bet glasses are clinking around the Beltway tonight. |
|
Well look at that, "bipartisan compromise" (two words that cause the Beltway elite to collectively cream themselves) saved the day. Who cares if programs to help poor people got the axe, there was a budget compromise without raising taxes on those Hard Working (Wealthy) Americans, the real Job Creators of our society! Poor people don't matter, and maybe if they Worked Harder, they'd be able to enjoy the prosperity that Real Americans do.
I wonder how many jobs this budget will create. After all, the Beltway Common Wisdom is is that lowering the deficit will lead to Job Creation.
President Obama and Senator Reid can sleep soundly knowing they pleased the Beltway elite tonight.

3. Howard Fineman was saying President Obama probably doesn't mind this, |
|
that he's happy to be pushed to make these cuts and move to the right (Fineman said "move to the center" but it's really to the right) since supposedly this will appeal to independents and help ensure his re-election.

5. Obama and the rest of the Democratic leadership need to read the 1956 REPUBLICAN party platform. |
|
Then maybe it will finally dawn on them how far to the right this country has been shoved. Obama and the majority of our party aren't "centrist"! That's crap. They would be to the RIGHT of the Republican party of 50 years ago.
The shoving really got some traction with Reagan and, with the help of the DLC has been picking up steam for 30 years.

6. Obama's re-election is already in the bag (no competition). Congressional Dems are screwed again. |
|
since these compromises do nothing to stimulate the economy... the recession will continue...
The teaparty will exact revenge on "moderate" GOP'ers like Boehner for "compromise" on social issues.
Meanwhile the real GOP'ers like Grover Norquist, the Koch's, et. al will be partying it up over more and more government programs and services being gutted.
