Oh My! Army opens fire in Tahrir Square - two killed
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-13023948
<snip>
Two people have been killed and at least 15 wounded during protests in Tahrir Square in the centre of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, doctors said.

The violence occurred overnight as the army tried to clear protesters calling for ex-President Hosni Mubarak to be tried and an end to military rule.

The injured suffered gunshot wounds but the army denies using live rounds.

But about 300 troops moved into the square at about 0300 local time (GMT) on Saturday to break up a camp in the centre.

1. Billed as an "anti-israel" protest by press-tv.

Over one million Egyptian protesters in Cairo's Liberation Square demanded their military rulers to abandon Israel and lift the blockade on the besieged Gaza Strip on Friday. Thousands broke away from the crowd and marched toward the Israeli embassy, a Press TV correspondent reported.

The protesters also called for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador in crisis-hit Egypt.

The protesters also demanded the prosecution of Egyptian officials belonging to the former regime -- mainly the ousted President Mubarak and his family.

3. The Egyptian Revolution has but begun.

Things are not going to go as the bourgeoisie plan, ie, business as usual, the people are roused.

5. Interesting and sad development.
Some military defecting to stand with the people. I fear the military control would be harder to shake than Mubarak.
