I've seen facebook friends mad that Obama had threatened to veto pay for soldiers
Edited on Sat Apr-09-11 08:22 AM by sufrommich
if the government would have shut down. Wasn't it the republicans who threatened to stop paying soldiers during the shutdown?

If anyone has a link to exactly what happened,I would very much appreciate it.

1. Repubs actually voted down troop funding

Republicans could have settled that issue and let the "budget" bill get worked out without it.
But they don't care.

3. The GOP tried to use the troops (who they pretend to love) as a bargining chip ...
Obama found that approach disgusting, and threatened to veto their silly bill out of hand.

4. I got into it with a FB poster on just such the subject
They were posting a *Dear Obama* rant, asking others to post it to their status. I then replied stating that this was false, and it was the republicans doing it.

The response was *I don't care who it was...* but they still were telling others to post the lie. I then changed the Dear part, inserted Boehner's name, and several others took that and aran with it.

It makes you wonder -- if Rush is on AF radio -- just how much garbage the troops are bing fed about what goes on in washington.

7. I was pleasantly surprised by the way people grabbed the re-write and ran with it
Even one friend who is waiting for her hubby to come back from Afghanistan -- she took the piece and ran with it. So while a lot may be confused thanks to fox propaganda, there are those who are not.

And we need to cultivate those folks -- get them to spread the word.

8. I agree. The first facebook friend who posted the "Obama won't
pay the troops" lie was a soldier friend of mine. He's usually a pretty reasonable guy, I hope he reads my reply and gets it.
