In medicine, there is something that they call "the gate theory of pain"
Basically, the way that I explain it to my patients is to picture a pen of horses. If the gate is wide open, then you run the risk of not being able to shut the gate (once the pain starts). So, what needs to happen is when the first horse walks over to the gate, the gate needs to be shut immediately so that we are still in control of the rest of the herd.
(In this theory, the point is, ask for pain medication when the pain starts, don't wait until it is out of control.)

Right now, as a progressive, I feel that the horses are stampeding through the gate about right now. We can't shut it. It is out of control, and my biggest fear is that it is too late to get it back under control.

Where do we go from here? I don't know. But I know that whatever is planned for us by the corporate masters is not far away.

We NEED a victory--but I feel at this point all we will get is a pyrrhic victory. But, I still hold out hope for Wisconsin.IF fraud and wrongdoings are exposed there, then possibly more might wake up.

Honestly, IF I could get out right now, I would. But, like the majority of Americans, I am stuck here. Perhaps when the curtains are all pulled back, people will wake up. It will be nothing more than an I-told-you-so moment...because the damage is being done as we speak.

But, I told you so. There. I said it. It doesn't make me feel better.

2. Wouldn't "the gate theory of pain" work against conservatism too?

3. i've experienced that first-hand...what a great analogy.
it's solid social psychology too -- it's nearly impossible to fight social momentum.

4. I think I'm right where you are, and I hope I'm wrong too.
I'm trying to talk my husband into retiring somewhere else. Don't think it's going to work for us.
