It looks like we are in a political limbo. |
|
When everything starts in Congress, and the rethugs have the majority, there is little that can be done to further the Democratic agenda. President Obama and our Democratic congressmen and senators are caught between a rock and a hard spot. Especially when the rethugs hold important things like unemployment benefits hostage to get something outrageous that they want. I hope all those who voted Republican in the last election now see the mess they have made.
If we can get a huge majority in the next election, perhaps we can turn around the harm that is going to be done between now and then. I'm sure that if we had a major majority in the house and congress those tax cuts for the wealthy would be gone. And perhaps we could get back the social programs that are being cut now. We have three parties now and we are going to see a lot of things getting done that we will not be happy with. But - nothing is forever.
I can only hope that at least half of the independents who voted Republican will vote Democratic next time. And that a lot of Republican voters who will be hurt by this budget will get on board with the Democrats in the next election. If the Democrats don't sweep the next election, I'm going to lose faith in the mentality of most Americans.

2. We've drifted into the Sargasso sea of things politic. Someone is going to have |

to dive in and cut the algae and seaweed from the hull before we can move forward at all.
