Recycled Lego Shoes

British artist Finn Stone created these rather unusual shoes – old shoes covered with plastic Lego-bits. The LEG-GO Stilettos debuted at the annual Affordable Art Fair in London and are part of a larger collection that includes Lego teapots, boots and hats.

80. I'll go with 'jacks' as the most painful to step on. Photo at the wiki link -> with
a painful sounding description.

<from the link> “Traditionally, jacks are metal objects bearing six tips at right angles to one another, four of which are usually rounded, with two opposite tips more pointed. This ensures the jack is relatively easy to pick up. Also required is a small rubber ball, used as a sort of timing device: the jacks are manipulated in the time it takes the ball to bounce up in the air and return to the height of the hand that catches it.”

American Psychological Association Task Force Report On The Sexualization Of Girls

This report examines and summarizes psychological theory, research and clinical experience addressing the sexualization of girls.The report (a) defines sexualization; (b) examines the prevalence and provides examples of sexualization in society and in cultural institutions, as well as interpersonally and intrapsychically; (c) evaluates the evidence suggesting that sexualization has negative consequences for girls and for the rest of society; and (d) describes positive alternatives that may help counteract the the influence of sexualization.

There are several components to sexualization, and these set it apart from healthy sexuality. Sexualization occurs when

a person’s value comes only from his or her sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics;
a person is held to a standard that equates physical attractiveness (narrowly defined) with being sexy;
a person is sexually objectified—that is, made into a thing for others’ sexual use, rather than seen as a person with the capacity for independent action and decision making; and/or
sexuality is inappropriately imposed upon a person.

All four conditions need not be present; any one is an indication of sexualization. The fourth condition (the inappropriate imposition of sexuality) is especially relevant to children. Anyone (girls, boys, men, women) can be sexualized. But when children are imbued with adult sexuality, it is often imposed upon them rather than chosen by them. Self-motivated sexual exploration, on the other hand, is not sexualization by our definition, nor is age-appropriate exposure to information about sexuality.

10. Maybe it's believed that girls, boys, and men would refuse to wear them.
Perhaps there could be a legal challenge of employers who refuse to hire job applicants who don't wear clothing that serves no functional purpose, such as neckties for men or traditional office shoes for women.

No...face it, this is one of those "no pain, no gain" and "it's better to look good than to fell good" things... sure your leg looks elongated, and they cast a slimmer figure. It's called vanity, not manipulation.

Nothing new... culturally men and women have practiced this.

Maybe twenty or thirty years ago, I would have bought into the aspect that women didn't have the control over their lives blah blah blah, but I'm an old coot. And...My wife never fell for this...

You should be able to put two fingers under the collar. If it's too tight you need to go up a half inch in collar size.

I can't think of a reason in the world to wear uncomfortable shoes. I have to wonder about a person whose need to be a little taller is so great, that they would endure physical pain.

43. Technically speaking, those are NOT stilettos.
A stiletto is a very, very skinny heel, and usually about three or more inches high, rather like the red heels shown in post #18, only the ones there don't look high enough.

Not all high heels are uncomfortable. A lot of women wear shoes that are too small for them, which is the main problem. Also, most of us don't have a standard sized foot, and many of us have feet that aren't exactly the same size, which also complicates matters.

But I do love the lego shoes. I'd wear them. Maybe I should just find some old pumps and buy some legos and start gluing!

55. LMAO... Loaded question.
Which I won't answer because anything I say will get me in trouble.

I buy shoes for comfort. Period.

67. Reminds me of this Misogynist joke
Why do women wear make-up and perfume?

Because they're ugly and they smell bad.

69. I will only mention that after wearing heals for years, my
Mom had to have surgery on both of her feet. I wore them for years, too, but stopped when I was home with my young'uns. My feet hate shoes now, and I let my feet decide.

The podiatrist told my Mom that shoes for women are designed for foot problems, and if the same was fashionable for a man, he wouldn't wear them because of the discomfort. Her podiatrist is a man.

70. Fake Mating posture
Butt out, boobs out. I used to make a comment about a correlation between a female orangutan's butt turning red when ready to mate and red lipstick but I give that up. Many women like weird too high shoes that are damaging to posture and feet-- mating posture or not--- and although I think it's silly I try not to judge. Even the latest bondage shoes.

Those shoes however, BEG to be judged. Ooogly for sure.

I don't wear shoes I can't run in, or at least walk fast. I don't wear clothes that restrict my body. I like attractive cuts and natural materials that allow me to flow comfortably in my world.

76. Because they don't come in mens sizes.
Oh, I'd buy them if someone told me to. Honest. Especially if they were really expensive.
