Unshared Sacrifice
The phrase "shared sacrifice" is deceptive and dishonest. It's not really a sacrifice to ask oil companies to forgo their enormous subsidies, or for the very wealthy to pay more in taxes. The oil companies would still- particularly at this time- be making huge profits, and the very wealthy would still be able to afford that 3rd home or new Mercedes. The poor in cold climates are sacrificing their well being by cuts to LIHEAP. Students are sacrificing going to college by cuts to Pell Grants. And that's just the tip of the iceberg for the middle class and the poor.

But even if we accept the false premise that "shared sacrifice" is needed. It's been anything but shared. The pain meted out is entirely one sided.

It's past time that democrats start speaking loudly to this issue, and get some kind of messaging and framing out there.

1. It should be shared participation, or shared giving, etc. "Sacrifice" is creepy

2. All of your sacrifice are belong to us.... and we'll decide who gets the benefits
of it. Isn't it amazing that we pay BIG DOLLARS to a bunch of arguing wind bags to decide on how they are going to spend your money. Not one single dollar that they spend is profit they have made or earned, not one single dollar didn't come from you.... still, they get the best healthcare available, drive the finest cars, stay in the nicest hotels, and claim they are "doing the peoples' business". What a crock of hooey. I say put 'em to work for real, something many of them don't have a clue about... wouldn't know it if it hit them in the gut.

3. This is the new "corporate" america
Similar thing is happening here locally, a new interchange is being put off the freeway after years of lobbying by businesses in the area. The people who are loosing land to accommodate the interchange along with 100s of their neighbors are being assessed to pay for the interchange while the businesses who will benefit are not paying one fucking red cent.

On the backs of the poor and middle class.

5. Why should they?
Who are we going to vote for? Greens? Dems get elected after pukes show their nasty side for what it is, take on puke framing, and get thrown out to "try out the other white meat". Rinse, lather, repeat. It's gotta get built from the ground up, locally and statewide, or fuck-all is going to take place. The fuckers we have now wouldn't know campaign finance reform if it castrated them with rusty razor blades. :grr:
