I really wish my local left-wing talk radio station (AM760)
Would finally decide if they are a talk-show station or a sports station.

Yes, I know that generating a cash stream in left-wing talk radio is not easy and some, or so I gather, have to take sports contracts to pay the bills, but God is it annoying when they preempt a show, particularly when important stuff is going on, for some ball game. Maybe I am just over sensitive since I don't have a T.V., threw that out a few years back because well, it doesn't have anything except propaganda on it anyway. But radio is a vital life line these days.

1. Geez. It sure would be nice to have a left-wing radio station. Our market of 8million+ doesn't have
a one.
So quit your bitchin;
:-)

3. Before moving out here I also lived in a market
that had nothing but right-wing talk radio so I really didn't miss not having rational discourse on the radio. But after I got here and got use to having it on a daily bases when it's gone I really miss it. So I'm going to bitch. :argh:

12. Wish Philadelphia had one :-(
But baseball on the radio - someone's gotta do it, so much better that it helps support a lefty station!

2. They Have A Contract
which was in place long before AM760 became progressive. The reason they keep it, they get paid from the university to air.
It won't last too much longer.

4. I can only hope you are correct
I know it may seem trite to complain but it really does annoy me.

5. I can only get left-wing radio from the satellite radio, XM 167.
They play around with the schedule, not all are live. We did have an Air America station, but that got bought out way before Air America bit the dust.

6. Pop On The FM...Left End Of The Dial...
Many areas have at least an NPR News station that offers some decent stuff on the weekend. Also many towns; especially if you have a decent size college nearby has a community station that will offer Pacifica Programming (Democracy Now). While it's not firebreathin' talk, it is a refuge from the hate talk and cookie-cutter formats out there.

7. Yeah I do usually go to NPR on the weekend
Although they are not really my thing, except for Prairie Home Companion, I can get the BBC there sometimes. Normally I would not complain but these days I am pretty much home bound so I guess I have become really dependent on the radio.

11. Internet Is A Good Option...
If you're stuck at home you can hear streams from other Progressive stations. WCPT here in Chicago streams 24/7 at:
http://chicagosprogressivetalk.com/listen/

They have a couple local talk shows on Saturday as well as Ring Of Fire...the other shows are reruns. I used to like 760 in Denver when my good friend Jay Marvin was on.

8. Ah Yes, Colorado sports fans....

I was living in and around Vail back when there were no Rockies or Avalanche. Only the Nuggets and the Broncos (and the Nuggets pretty much sucked).

I got to a point where I hated the Doncos because of the coverage. Any time they won a game you got 3 days of post game before the 3 days of pregame for the next week. Any time they lost a game you only got 1 day of post game and then two days of blissful silence before the 3 days of pregame began again.

I feel your pain but I think you are just going to have to suffer through it.

10. WGN is part of the Chicago Cubs history
I like listening to the Cubs on 720, its always been like that and I hope it will always be like that. But this is another one of those topics, that if your a baseball fan you'll probably agree and if you don't like sports you won't understand.
