Tornadoes rip through Iowa towns
Emergency crews early Sunday sifted through the wreckage left behind by a wave of tornadoes that swept across Iowa before midnight.
The National Weather Service in Des Moines reported tornado sightings by storm chasers and trained spotters in as many as 11 towns and cities northern and west central Iowa over a four-hour period Saturday night.

At least three of the twisters, including the Mapleton tornado, caused significant damage, according to Frank Boksa, a National Weather Service meteorologist.

3. Sorry Dixie, hope this turns out OK.

7. Thank you.
Seems like we are forever sending each other "are you ok?" emails.
Her area was badly hit by the floods last year.

5. I drove through a piece of this last night coming
back from Minneapolis. It was mostly East of me, but still quite a show. Wrestled with stopping for the night but proceeded home. I was kind of in it before I knew what was happening.

9. Scary. I read one of the tornadoes was about a quarter mile wide
Coming back to wisconsin from South Dakota 2 years ago , we drove from Sioux City to Dubuque on Hwy 20, just to do something different than I-90. Out in the sticks for long stretches, with nowhere to stop for shelter, with alarming storm clouds and tornado warnings in every direction. It was tense.
