Historical Federal Receipt and Outlay Summary
http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxfacts/displayafact.cfm?DocID=200&Topic2id=20&Topic3id=23

Very interesting data. I didn't realize spending had ramped up so much under Obama. Outlays went from 20.7% of GDP to 25.0%. Ugly. Traditionally tax receipts are about 20% but they went from 17.5% to 14.9% in 2009.

I didn't realize how badly the downturn had hit the federal balance sheet. No wonder Obama is trying to fix his record up.
