Cantor admits Social Security and Medicare ‘aren’t going to be there’ when he retires
I'm bettin he's got a golden Koch parachute stashed somewhere, though. Oh yeah, and healthcare for life.

It may just be wishful thinking.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) admitted Sunday that he didn't expect Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare to be around when he retires.

"What we have said is this: We'll protect today's seniors and those nearing retirement, but for the rest of us, all of us, who are 54 and younger, I know the programs are not going to be there for me when I retire," Cantor told Fox News' Chris Wallace.

1. Another fucking lie from a fucking liar.
Social Security is solvent through 2037. After that it will pay out 75%, with no changes in the tax structure.

And if we want to fund it forever, all we have to do (real Americans, that is, not unAmerican jackasses like Cantor) is omit the cap on SS taxes.

5. again....they have a president willing to compromise on just about everything.
It's so god damned admirable isn't it??

Let's just all come together and do what's best for this country. That's what I keep hearing from the leader of our party.

I guess letting people live in shacks and die in the streets with no medical attention is prolly the best way to go for all Americans.

I think I'm beginning to believe! hallelujah!

16. Yep. I said this last summer.........
The next big wedge issue from the capitalist exploiters was the age thing. Blame us older baby boomers for the money they've STOLEN from Social Security to fund their tax cuts and wars. Right on schedule.

7. "I know the programs are not going to be there "
His Wall Street employers have informed him of the impending privatization coup.
That's how he "knows" this.

8. Are you all really planning on having those things...
Either way for me it is "Hope for the best and plan for the worst"

My retirement plans involve neither...

9. That meme has been pushed by repubs for a long time
It's to prepare us for them reforming (destroying) those programs. A surprising number of young people have been brainwashed into believing that ss, medicare and other parts of the safety net are going away. Of course, if we believe it, it will be much easier for them to do.

14. Cantor is obviously a extreme rightwing sociopath
Edited on Sun Apr-10-11 12:00 PM by Urban Prairie
He and those of his ilk believe in "out of sight, out of mind". Why would/should he care if tens of millions of US citizens who never could, or no longer can, or inevitably will not be able to support themselves due to age, physical/mental health, and/or infirmity, may or will become homeless, ill, starving, and experience ultimately early deaths?

He likely thinks of all of the benefits to society, especially the tens of billions that could go instead into the pockets of the obscenely wealthy, the global corporate capitalists, and the MIC rather than the relatively "minor" drawbacks, such as a huge uptick in criminal activity, rioting, and the the millions-fold increase in homeless wandering the country, should SS, SSI, SSD, Medicare/Medicaid, and every other government program that aids people who are not or no longer are being "productive" members of society, were to be deeply slashed or better still, eliminated.

Since most of those who are at or below the poverty-line, (other than aging senior teabaggers) tend to vote Democratic, the biggest benefit to eliminating government programs and services, would be making it much more difficult, if not impossible for those affected to vote, not that an average homeless, ill, and starving person would be concerned about anything other than mere survival each and every day.

Could it be because you and your supply side capitalist buddies have STOLEN THE MONEY???? And spent it on wars of choice and tax cuts for your rich bosses. I'd call this guy a douche, but I don't want to insult douchebags.
