A question for Minnesota DUers regarding Al Franken. |
|
I'm just curious how do you all think he is doing in the Senate? I ask, because I just picked up his book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, and I'm curious to hear what his constituents think of him? In his book he doesn't seem to hold back, but writing a book is one thing and governing another. So what do you all think of him and his voting record so far?

He doesn't set me on fire, but then, I find that my bar has risen as I get older.

How do you think the Senators from your state are doing? I'm not impressed too much with either one. Maybe you can get a Franken in there?

7. Oh mine are fucking terrible. |
|
Alexander and Corker both suck and my House rep, Duncan, is no better. I wasn't attacking Franken, I was just curious to hear what you all thought, but yeah I'd love to have someone like him representing me.

4. I am very satisfied so far. He speaks out intelligently on issues and |
|
votes the way I want my senator to vote.

6. Not from MN, but I know there is no one better to speak on Medicare and SS, |
|
its importance, and to counter the lies about it, than Al Franken. His wife's very survival was dependent on SS survivor's benefits after her father died when she was young, leaving her mother to try to fend for several kids. Franken speaks extremely eloquently, letting you know that 1. he GETS it and 2. he really loves his wife of many years and is thus quite grateful for the program.
I wish, going into the coming battles on Medicare and SS, that we had a hundred Al Franken-Bernie Sanders clones.

8. Franken is very intelligent and quite liberal, for a senator. |
|
His model is Paul Wellstone, and I think with some more experience he'll come close to that standard. He doesn't connect as quickly and easily on a personal level, though.
