"In what can only be described as a stunning deterioration in foreign relations between the world's two superpowers, following Friday's release by the US State Department of the annual report on human rights, which expressed sharp criticism of the human rights records of China, North Korea, Cuba and Belarus, among others, China decided it has had enough. Less than 48 hours later, it has lashed back at the US with a report that is making headlines at every government controlled, and otherwise, media in mainland China, which makes a mockery of the US double standard when it comes to human rights, and exposes US "hypocrisy" which China (rightly many would claim) asserts is merely a pretext for continued US attempts at world "hegemony".

While illustrating a dismal record of the United States on its own human rights, China's report said the United States could not be justified to pose as the world's "human rights justice." "However, it released the Country Reports on Human Rights Practices year after year to accuse and blame other countries for their human rights practices," the report said. These moves fully expose the United States' hypocrisy by exercising double standards on human rights and its malicious design to pursue hegemony under the pretext of human rights, it said. The report advised the U.S. government to "take concrete actions to improve its own human rights conditions, check and rectify its acts in the human rights field, and stop the hegemonistic deeds of using human rights issues to interfere in other countries' internal affairs." While that last sentence may not be an explicit warning for the US to shut the hell up and focus on its own dirty laundry, or else, it sure does sound like one.................."

13. Good move. Two major human rights abusers

fighting over who is worse. Maybe something good can come of this. But it's about time someone pointed out the hypocrisy, and writing their own review all of which appears to be correct, was a good way to go about it.

Now all we need is a third party to tell both of them that the European Court on Human Rights will be judge from now on, conceding China's point, that the U.S. doesn't have the standing to do this job. Then, maybe China and the U.S. can improve their HR's policies before next year and see who gets the prize for making the most progress.

How sad is it that China's report is correct, and that we are being told now by so many countries to just stfu about other people's human rights policies and go fix our own.

15. unfortunately for the US, that statement becomes less and less true with each passing day

China is de-leveraging their holdings of US debt, plus the rise in the standards of living of many countries in the 3rd world means a huge new demand for cheap Chinese goods. China is signing multiple (Brasil, Russia, India, etc) trade/commodity deals that specifically exclude the US dollar as the method of settlement.

The US is only 4% of the world population, and the low-end US consumer demand that fueled Chinese growth will decline significantly. The real purchasing parity power wages for the vast majority of Americans will erode due to nominal reductions in labour pay scales (globalization's wage leveling effect), as well as real losses in spending power due US dollar currency debasement.
