Fox outraged at Crayola for "politically correct" marker colors
I'll give Fox credit for knowing (and pandering to) their audience...

Reported by Priscilla - April 10, 2011 -

Despite the diversity of America, the America of "America's Newsroom" is distinctly melanin challenged with only a few, select, darker hues allowed. And while much of the world beyond Fox "News" welcomes diversity, Fox knows that the residents of their world do see color in very stark terms. One has only to see the comments on "Fox Nation" to see that the rainbow is not welcome in the land of Fox. Thus, earlier this week, "Fox & Friends" expressed disgust that Crayola, in attempting to be "ethnically sensitive" (Oh, the Horror, The Horror) is marketing "multicultural" markers.

(The "flesh colored," albeit more Mediterranean, Brian Kilmeade referred to them as crayons.) America's favorite "anchor baby," (by the standards of those who want to change the 14th Amendment!) Michelle Malkin (definitely more than taupe) said that this was "pandering" to evil libruls. Interestingly, the original source for this un-American move by the free market, which has been around since 1992 in response to Maryland children who wanted a color, other than black, with which to color MLK, Jr., seems to be the right wing Volkh Conspiracy site. And also interesting is that in true Fox "News" style, this right wing and borderline racist story was repeated on today's Fox & Friends. I guess the message is that when it comes to crayons/markers, yellow isn't mellow, brown shouldn't stick around and black needs to get back - but if it's white, it's all right!

People would ask for a "Pure White paint".
The only such Color (ok..non-color) is the base that you use to make a so-called white/colored paint.
White paint is NOT pure white...it's a little bit darker.
(If you put any white paint next to a white base, you'll say: Whoa!..it's that different.

My point being in all this is, "White Human beings" are non-existant.
We all have a little brown/black/red and other colors/heritage mixed in.
...although the right would never admit to this.
We come from Africa and that's the way it is..

7. The media keeps us focused on crayons while the oligarchs
and banksters plunder everything that generations of Americans and our government have accumulated. They constantly refer to our public assets as belonging to the government as though it isn't OUR STUFF. They don't want Americans to think nationalistic or that we own the government and its assets. They want us to support "privatizing" our assets on the cheap.

They (the MSM) do their best to shine the light on our differences while knowing it will keep the masses deflected from reality. F$#k the media and the horse they rode in on and their obvious agenda. If it isn't a collaboration it is a damn good imitation.

How long has it been since you've seen our friends on the mass media shine the spotlight on the real crooks? Instead they work on incensing the sheep about the color of their crayons. We Americans are fools led by pied pipers and have lost any sense of reality.

9. I'm sure that box of crayons make life a lot easier for schoolteachers
from kindergarten to second grade. Now when they ask their students to draw themselves the students will actually be able to find a color close to their own; "flesh" only works if you're very white and have both jaundice and a slight sunburn.

12. They can deny this is about racism all they want
Edited on Sun Apr-10-11 02:41 PM by BanzaiBonnie
But my husband just remarked to me, and we both decided, that racism is divisive tool being used to stir up those who are susceptable to that.

What it's really about is class. The upper (or those who consider themselves upper), versus middle and lower. Their stand is to permanently institute classism into the structure of the United States. The have mores want to win.

I'm for tearing down the barriers.

What made this country great, the "American Dream" is what allowed everyone to have a chance, on their merits to be successful. That is being torn apart in the current fray.

OK, so the news item was from Fox, but thank you for reposting it. I had no idea Crayola made this selection of colors. My daughter is adopted from China and has a different skin tone from my husband and myself. She's 8 now and loves to draw pictures of herself and us and her friends. These markers/crayons/pencils will make it much more fun for her. Really, I can't thank you enough.

39. That is actually the most interesting part of the story
Why now? After all these markers have been around since 1992.

So why did Fox & Friends run with this story today? Searches around the internet reveal very little Crayola-related news, apart from a few articles about their new line of bubbles.

But there is one other item that pops up: an April 1 post on the blog The Volokh Conspiracy about the markers. It's possible that's a total coincidence. Or perhaps Fox & Friends is just picking their stupid, borderline bigoted story ideas by sifting through blogs, without checking to see if the stories in question predate the Clinton administration.

48. So why aren't there just...Crayons?!
My nieces/nephews and their friends color people blue, ,orange (Snooki?!), purple and gray...

What is the obsession with nailing down the flesh color of anyone - at all?
Not coming from the kids. Doubtful the lollipop guild is pressing parents for anything other than candy and a big box of just plain old freaking crayons.

Take adults out of the equation, a 64 color box of crayons (with ZERO 'flesh colors') would result in no complaints from children who just want to COLOR.
Then the 'adults' at fox would have one less crap segment to run.
REMOVE flesh colors.
Then allow kids to be kids.
They will figure out what to do while coloring quicker than any adult at fox.
