Are we supposed to be so grateful that they stood up for Planned Parenthood
that we forget everything they didn't stand up for and should have? It's being used by the admin that way and that sucks. The repukes through in that ridiculous demand KNOWING that they didn't stand a chance at defunding (penny ante amount)PP, but they knew well enough that the focus on it would deflect from the cuts that they really wanted. It was repuke sleight of hand and the dems got suckered. Again.

2. I think we have to take the excuse of "suckered" off the table.
There might be something more malicious going on here.

Convince there isn't....

Get ready for it.

Speaking ill of this administration only emboldens and gives aid and comfort to our enemies.

5. Planned Parenthood stood up for itself....with the help of many of us.
I think it was an afterthought from the Democrats when they saw the donations PP was getting and when started getting all that mail.

10. To me, proof positive of this....
..was the fact that I sent a letter and signed a petition to my Senator (Lautenberg in NJ) well over a month ago when this fight started rearing it's ugly head. And just the day of the vote at 4PM I got his form letter/e-mail committing to his "support for Planned Parenthood".

Typical Dem move. Wait until something is clearly going one way or another, and then claim to stand up for it.

Such fucking bravery.

6. That's their whole plan. Saving PP was a purely political move meant to say "Look what we did!"
to whitewash all the other cuts to the poor.

7. I don't know
All I do know is that there would have been screaming of bloody murder on this board if the Planned Parenthood cut had gone through and the other spending cuts had been removed.

8. Cantor just said on Fox, the GOP need to use their leverage and
set up for the Debt Ceiling. He plan to put cuts
in Entitlements (called Reform) will be their
hostage this time. Refuse to raise the Debt Ceiling
unless there are serious reforms(cuts) to Entitlements
Medicare and Medicaid.

12. Cali sometimes/often/mostly there's little substantive difference between major political parties.
I understand the mindset of independent voters and those who won't vote because they believe candidates ostensibly represent two sides on divisive, polarizing issues while both intending to vote for bills that move us inexorably toward a corporate state.

20. The Mindset of Independent Voters
you give these people far too much credit.
First off, they are unaffiliated, period!
I've called many so-called independents - here's what I get from them.... I don't like either candidate. Then why do you let registered Dems or GOPs pick the candidate during the primaries? They don't even know they can change their status, in order to vote in the primaries.
I get a lot of....I don't pay that much attention to politics.
And if things don't go their way in two years, guess what they do?

These voters are anything but "independent", their kinda stupid.

16. For days, the only thing spoken of was PP
Next time, let's focus on ALL the important things we want saved, and not just one issue. I'm still waiting for a factual report on what was actually cut, but if the Pell grant stuff is true, then THAT should have been our main focus, among other things.

17. Planned Parenthood Is Grateful - Read Here
http://www.plannedparenthoodaction.org/elections-politics/press-releases/planned-parenthood-action-fund-launches-new-tv-ad-cancer-doctor-describing-organizations-critic-1053.htm

And I am going out on a limb here, but I would think the millions of American's who ACTUALLY USE Planned Parenthood are grateful.

Maybe you didn't hear the constant drum-beat of hatred and lies spewed last week about Planned Parenthood. Yes, I'm grateful our Democratic leaders stood up for PP, including my Congresswoman Diana DeGette, who is always fighting for women and their health needs.

You should change that "we" to "I" - it's reminiscent of the hordes of TV pundits who always claim to know what we think, need, desire, reject, blah, blah, blah.
