It is long past time for the Democrats to set the fucking agenda.
The Sunday yammerers were all atwitter about the debt ceiling. Leader Boner was pounding his podium about what ought to be. The uncompromising zealots of the teabag fringe are already saying they will once again hang tough.

Will the Democrats, who are technically still in power, holding as they do the Senate and Presidency, actually decide to take the lead?

Or will they, as they have consistently done in the near past, debate on terms set by the minority party?

I gotta tell ya. I'm almost ready to check out of caring about it all. I've seen the strategy of this feckless bunch one time too many. Pathetic is too kind a word.

2. They made it to the superbowl and tied their shoe laces together, that's what I
think happened.

5. Boehner is already framing the debate. Obama just announced that he's going
to release his budget nearly two full weeks after Ryan released his.

If Obama is just catching up with Ryan, it's going to be another two weeks before he catches up on the debt ceiling debate.

7. Our party doesn't seem to understand that they need to lead on the message
Instead every discussion has been based on Republican framing and the Republican POV after a total vacuum of discussion from the Democratic side.

Given what Plouffe was out there saying today, I am not at all hopeful that this is going to change. There has been no discussion of how the debt and deficit got to this point. Instead the Republicans have now led with a plan that destroys (err, I mean "reforms") Medicare/Medicaid and then Social Security is in the sights next.

10. When Dems keep feeding the war machine
it short circuits our ability to hold or afford our principles. Rather than get us out of war, Obama has put us further into the craziness.

8. The neo-liberals leading the party have no intent of setting an agenda.
The neo-liberal POTUS and his neo-liberal cabinet and too many neo-liberals in Congress fostered by the neo-liberal DNC, DCCC, and defunct DLC differ little in domestic and foreign polciy than the neo-liberals; both groups are Machivellian in philosophy.

Wish I knew an answer. I am tired, aging, and ill.

9. It's also past the time when they COULD. That time was Jan 2009 - and they blew it off

The iron was hot - blazing red - but they refused to strike.

They wouldn't "look back". They wouldn't prosecute crimes and misdeeds - Constitutional or financial. They wouldn't reveal the Big Lies at the heart of America's economic decline and its reckless military expansions. They wouldn't stick up for the ordinary Americans who live and die in the real economy. They wouldn't be the party that people turned to when the Republicans had gambled away the rent money; but instead they threw their lot in with the multinational corporations and the banks. WHO PROMPTLY SCREWED THEM.

So now they have to suck shit and take orders from the likes of John Boehner.

Happy Sucking, Democrats!
