How did you learn to communicate clearly?
Edited on Sun Apr-10-11 05:43 PM by Boojatta
What techniques did you use?

Also, how did you learn to detect invalid reasoning and avoid relying upon it? How have you learned to construct step-by-step reasoning that consists of valid reasoning at every step?

11. I took a course freshman year. Deductive logic.
Taught me how the difference between fallacies and fact. And taught me how to prove a premise to be true or false, the basis for a rational argument.

21 years of schooling (kindergarten through doctoral program) introduced me to argumentation and analysis in a broad range of fields. You cull the best methods from it, almost by osmosis. It takes a lifetime.

25. Huzzah!
As I think Samuel Johnson once said, the largest part of writing is oftentimes the reading. That's a paraphrase.

Ah - "a man will turn over half a library to make one book."

22. Law school.
You have to read cases, understand them, and then the prof will call on people randomly to stand up and recite.

That will either make you crumple or make you strong. I was nervous but didn't show it.

I heard about one girl who was so intimidated by a professor that she stood up and recited, and sat down and passed out.

23. I have conduction aphasia so it can be hard to understand me at times but I did learn
to communicate when I was about 25. I had been dominated by a friend and well I suddenly saw her as a whole person when I lived with her. She had issues. I realized I had been selling myself short and it was time to live my life for myself or life would pass me, and the doormat I was, by. I was still so shy sometimes I could barely speak unless I had a few beers. I was on prozac and realized I'd probably had a low level depression for years. I started out having conversations with people in small ways and soon, as my memory expanded, I could discuss issues with people. It took a few months but was great to open up in that regard....it was great to be in my own skin. I made much deeper and better friendships. And then I was harrassed and my life was destroyed. I survived that. Though I still have a bad auditory memory, I am a much better communicator than I was 15 years ago and love talking to people. Quite a feat from someone who was so shy as a teen I was frozen, couldn't talk to members of the opposite sex and did not grow up at all in high school. I discoved that like most quiet people I did best talking in groups or with active listeners.

27. I'd be happy to tell you... but I charge $2k an hour
The price is adjustable, but your pedantic and at the same time assclowny tone doesn't induce me to adjust it in your favor.

I think you will find that other posters will agree, largely, that the above communicates quite clearly how I feel about your post... and by extension how I, personally, feel about your idiotic methodology theories.
