Milwaukee Urinal/Sentinel in-depth look at Wisconsin Election turnout.
http://www.jsonline.com/news/statepolitics/119576029.html

<snip>

Take Milwaukee, the state's other big Democratic county. It played a much different role than Dane in this election. It voted 57% to 43% for Kloppenburg over Prosser. Yet it was one of the few counties in the state where Prosser actually did better on Tuesday than Scott Walker did last fall. Prosser's share of the Milwaukee County vote was almost six points higher than Walker's was for governor in 2010; Menominee was the only other county in the state where Prosser outperformed Walker by that much. Milwaukee County also turned out at far lower levels than Dane. Milwaukee County's turnout rate was 32% of voting-age adults; the city of Milwaukee turnout rate was about 28% - compared with statewide turnout of 34% and Dane County turnout of 48%.

1. Turnout is vital. A Kloppenburg vote from Waukesha meant as much as one from Dane.
In statewide elections we need to get Democrats and like-minded Independents out to vote even in the reddest of red areas.

From a statewide aspect I think Walker is less worried now about his own recall or losing a recall election. Democrats still have not proven they can turn the tide in a statewide election, and last week's election would have been a great opportunity for Democrats to show that their actions by voting matched their rhetoric. Had Prosser clearly lost, and not just by a few hundred votes, then Walker would have had reason to worry.

We really need to start to redeem ourselves in getting out the vote. On May 3 there will be a special election here in the La Crosse area to fill the seat vacated by Mike Huebsch when he left to serve his new masters and we have a good chance of taking that seat because we have a good candidate in Steve Doyle and in La Crosse our turnout last week was 40% and Kloppenburg won here 59/41.

A win here in that election along with Jennifer Schilling beating Kapanke in the recall election will give us some great momentum. But we must remember that each and every election is important and it is imperative for Democrats to get out and vote.

Dane County and Milwaukee County and wondering what accounts for it. Before the fall election people in Dane hardly knew Scott Walker and everyone in Milwaukee already hated his guts.

I guess I'm wondering if there is something more wrong with the April 5 results than just Waukesha County. It doesn't really compute. Prosser should have done very badly there too.

If I recall correctly, there were actually more votes for Kloppenburg from Dane county- something like 124,000- than from Miwaukee county, which has a larger population and a ton of Democrats.

4. Something REALLY stinks here...
28% turnout compared to 48% in Dane Co? The 2 largest Dem - leaning areas... They'll blame in on the lower income population not voting but I dont buy it. "Prosser's share of the Milwaukee County vote was almost six points higher than Walker's was for governor in 2010." This was BEFORE all the Walker s#^& hit the fan in Feb - Before the massive protests and before the truth about Prosser's tantrums and rages, and support for child molesters reached the masses.

There should be more votes from Milwaukee Co., and if there are, what happened to them?
Milwaukee county uses all optical scan, paper ballots according to http://elections.state.wi.us/docview.asp?docid=2728&locid=47

I hope the investigation is about 1,000's of missing ballots in Milwaukee County

5. Reminds me when Bush's vote % went up INEXPLICABLY in 2004 in URBAN areas.
Inexplicably....more like IMPOSSIBLY.

6. You're right, it makes no sense at all.
I noticed the total no of Dem votes on election night was higher in Dane than in Milwaukee, which seems highly improbable, even though we have a higher ratio of Dems. Something is way off here.

7. WAY off. I hope something good comes of this Milw Co canvass
like a truckload of ballots found- 75% for Kloppenberg. That would make the election results MUCH more realistic considering the events that have taken place in this state since Feb.
