Eaglets? Someone please tell me they are ok
I just looked at the feed and could see neither parents nor babies except a bit of very still fuzz in the center of the nest.

5. thank you
I didn't want to look again, it freaked me out to see what looked like a nearly empty nest.. (I'm having a difficult morning.)

Everything looks ok now - hope your day gets better :)

I am SO glad the wind has calmed there - it was nervewracking to see the tree being buffeted all day...

8. I clicked on last night before I headed to bed
The wind was something fierce. One of the parents was laying down on top of the babies and their feathers were blowing all around.

14. I was watching too and it was turning me into a nervous wreck
The sound coming out of the computer was fierce! I finally had to let it go - it was out of our hands. The adult eagle (male or female?) seemed less worried than I was (though it seemed having his feathers ruffled so hard was annoying him at times) so I learned a zen lesson from him or her.

It is fascinating to get this peek into the life of eagles.

20. It is fascinating
You just have to remind yourself that they know what they're doing. Yesterday during the day both parents looked like they were making the center a bit deeper. It would have shielded the youngsters more. And you have to remember that nature is harsh. Fortunately they all survived the night, but there's no guarantee they'll survive today or tomorrow.

21. yes, I guess that's why I couldn't see the babies this morning
their little nest is deeper. plus after the winds last night.. I'm surprised by how they're affecting me emotionally.

9. Nature is cruel, well not cruel, it just is what it is. Animals die all the time.
How many would delight in watching the first born eaglet get rid of its younger siblings, but that is simply nature.

How about a camera on a nest of cute little bunnies. How about when momma rabbit get carried away by momma eagle to feed her babies. Any eagle watchers shedding any tears over the baby rabbits left behind? Probably not. But nature is what it is.

13. when bunnies come off the endangered species list I will be happy for them
but since I have eaten rabbit, and enjoyed it, I would be a hypocrite if I denied those birds a similar food source.

Damn it, now I'm hungry

Hey, that new show "America's next great restaurant". I just had a great idea. Rabbit!!!

19. Don't worry about not being a hypocrite, there are enough others to go around.
I am sure the eagles don't know they are endangered and the rabbits don't know they are not. To each, dead is dead.

17. I know, you're right
some days are easier than others to accept nature's ways. here where I live there are wild coyotes and cute little bunnies; I've followed their tracks and seen where they cross, and the bunny tracks vanish. Still on freezing nights I think of the hungry coyote pups and how hard it is for everybody, including humans.

Probably hardest for humans only because we fight nature and worry about the future & death in ways animals don't. I try to learn from animals about acceptance. They just live in the present; they fight like hell to survive but don't let it make them crazy.

15. You're right, of course. I've noticed Dad enjoys minding the kids while mom goes out
shopping quite a bit. I think they're both just crazy proud new parents! I would be! They're fortunate not to have an employment problem right now.
