Logging In To DU On My iTouch....... |
|
When I travel and away from my desktop computer I carry my iTouch and as long as I have wifi I can get on the internet. I'm able to go to DU and check out the latest posts - but I can never log on and post myself. If there is anyone out there that can tell me what I might be doing wrong - I sure appreciate that.

with my Blackberry. I can log in and post, but I can't "Rec" or vote in polls.
Hopefully, whoever solves your problem will solve mine as well! :bounce:

19. Your problem sounds like a cookie issue... |
|
Since DU is set up to use cookies to insure you don't vote more than once.

10. Then you're probably entering your password incorrectly. |
|
FYI, you'd probably save yourself and others some time if you provided the actual error you were getting from the get go.

13. If you've never connected from your iPod before, that's most likely it. |
|
I've gotten the same thing on mine and I was able to resolve it by entering it very carefully. You just need to make sure that all your caps and special characters are entered properly.

15. try entering the password into the username field to make sure you're getting what you expect. |
|
Also, passwords may be case sensitive.
Don't hit enter when you type in the password. Once you verify what's being entered, delete it and try to make any necessary fixes before you log in.

6. Try going to Settings -> Safari -> Accept Cookies |
|
and select "From visited". I have this setting on my iPhone and have no problems posting and staying logged in.

8. I Did What You Said ..... |
|
the setting was - Always accept cookies - I changed it to "from visited" like you suggested and I still get the same error message of "Incorrect Password".
Do you know if I can use the same password for both my desktop and iTouch?

14. Don't mean to be snarky, but I think the password is case sensitive. |
|
Do you have any caps in your password? That's always what trips me up. Other than that, I have no problem on my iPhone.

18. Just Numbers And Lower Case Letters...... |
|
I've entered it and re-entered it countless times very carefully. I know that what I'm entering is correct. Thanks for all your suggestions - but it must just be a quirk with my iTouch or something.

17. Ok... Now, I just got a new iphone 4 and I tried it... |
|
and it reminded me that I did have a short term quirk with my ipod touch when I got it. So, the iphone gave me the error message that you described and I simply repeated a couple of times very carefully. But THEN, I just exited to go do something else and came back a few minutes to try again and it worked. So, I don't know what is happening, but it seems it did register. So, try exiting the internet and coming back later. I'll bet you may be logged in.

25. Sprint made it impossible to do on the LG Optimus S |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 02:54 PM by hlthe2b
unless you pay the exorbitant $30 extra/month in addition to the $90 or so monthly fees--so, "rooted" or not, I suspect they will find a way to close your loophole. Enjoy while you can.
I already have unlimited data (both 3g and 4/g where I can access) on a Sprint 3g/4g overdrive device that I got under a business discount for an incredible deal on a pre-release. So, I still have my foot in both "camps"...

26. I don' think the word "impossible" applies any longer. Hackers figure everything out in short order |
|
and give that info to the world via the internet. I don't think my loophole will close, or at least if it does that it's only temporary.
I'd hate to be out here on the road with no free internet access!

27. You could get that on a Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V |
|
Edited on Mon Apr-11-11 03:01 PM by hlthe2b
for $25/month. Runs on Sprint. Just saying.... I travel into areas that would require roaming (sprint bounces to verizon towers in some areas) and the VM plan won't roam, so it doesn't really solve anything for me. I tuck the overdrive device in my bag, in those situations and have never had a problem. But, for those staying essentially "put" the VM plan on the LG could be quite a deal, while it lasts.

21. Have you exited web browser and then tried again? |
|
I know how frustrating these kind of things can be. I accidentally set up the same email account twice (not realizing my iphone would automatically download my outlook info), only with an error and I can't seem to get rid of all remnants. So every time I cc myself on an email, it offers two choices of my own email address--one correct and one wrong. SO, if I am not careful and hit the wrong one, the email loops into an error cycle. Very frustrating, but one I may have to live with...
