Something you young DU whippersnappers should know-- |
When some strange old fart is looking down their nose at you in a public place, do not automatically assume that they are a teabagger. Most likely they are just trying to get you into focus in their no-line trifocals.

1. I tried progressives (which is what no-line trifocals really are) |
and could not get used to them. So now I carry bifocal reading glasses in my pocket.
So now I'm often looking over the top of my glasses at people. I'm not sure what that makes me look like, lol.

8. I figured more people would recognize the "no-line" term. |
And they are indeed rather hard to adjust to. I got the reading & distance part right away, but there's just something unnatural about the way you have to tilt your head around to get things to line up in that seemingly minuscule viewing area that focuses the mid-distances.

11. people are always asking me if I need help in the store... |
I have no idea what I look like. I guess I'm must be looking around with my head and eyes darting about trying to see what's on the shelf. Here's a joke only a progressive lens wearer will undersstand - I told my husband my glasses make me lose my peripheral vision, and he said, "but there's nothing on the sides of your glasses."

13. I only really need them for close and medium distances. |
I need them for computer distance, and for close reading (books, cell, etc.). I can see fine at longer distances. So the longer distance part of my progressives was essentially plain glass. I only wanted them to avoid the hassle of constantly taking them on and off at work. I could not get used to them so now I have the bifocals with narrow lenses so I can push them down and look over the top.

14. Ijust got mine last week |
(trifocal/progressive) and am having a hell of a time getting used to them. The first day I could not keep my balance. I still can't use them with the computer.
