Word Cloud: How Toy Ad Vocabulary Reinforces Gender Stereotypes

I’ve always wanted to do a “mash-up” of the words used in commercials for so-called boys’ toys. I did a little bit of this in my book, but now, thanks to Wordle, I can present my findings in graphic form. This is not an exhaustive record; it’s really just a starting point, but the results certainly are interesting.

4. Going to the link U posted - I found the blow up of the words most used
For either gender rather scary.

On the boys' list of words - you have the word "cage" and "Weapons."

And on the girls' list you have "friends." (I didn't see the word in reference to the boys' words, but maybe it was just too small?)

That pretty much sums up what our war-loving government needs of its young citizens - that the boys assimilate early on the fact that they are only "men" if they fight, and put people in a cage, while girls can concentrate on the social aspect of life, and of course spend huge amounts of time on their appearance.
