5. The American Dream
I shop that video all the time here on DU and for friends interested in "current events".

It is a beautiful piece that utterly nails it about how fucked we all are by the rich and powerful sociopaths that are in control of all our institutions, which are all failing us - SIMULTANEOUSLY!

Wow... Thank you for posting this. I wish every person of voting age in this country would watch this and then go THINK...

8. When I slip into a delusional state of believing in "Change we can believe in":
I just play this video and it brings me back to my senses that we are truly screwed, blued and tattooed. Perhaps that is a defeatist state, but it has the comfort of reality.

13. Your complacency is better than "those other people's", eh?
What are you saying? You're promoting precisely the thing you purport to hate - complacency. Except this is a "wise" complacency, not a "deluded" one.

14. The OP promotes a video, not complacency
But you knew that.

15. The first step is FACING the truth. That is not complacency. If complacency is the message
you are receiving, then you'd better re-tune your antenna.

Sometimes a person has to be shocked into facing reality.

I believe that is what Carlin was trying to do. He was trying to wake us up.

After you take a sober look at reality, you can then say: "Well, what CAN we do about it."

If you think I am saying giving up, you are right.

I am saying "GIVE UP ON BELIEVING THE PILE OF SHIT BEING
DISHED OUT BY GREEDY POLITICIANS WHO ARE ONLY OUT FOR THEIR
OWN AGGRANDISEMENT and START THINKING FOR YOURSELF."

Wake up and take a look at what is REALLY happening --
the move forward from there.

There is no use in chasing your tail.

18. Then what is getting stuck on the first step called?
That's my question. About all I see is repeated proclamations that "People need to wake up, and nothing will happen until they do", usually accompanied by a chorus of voices praising the latest proclamation as new and insightful. Over and over again. It appears to me to be a complacency of despair. I'm not contrasting it with a pollyanna faith, I'm just tired of this "I'm not lifting a finger until everyone agrees with me" tendency that I see. Maybe the "shock" value has worn off. Is it time to try something else perhaps? Like actual organizing? Encouraging alternatives at the same time as identifying obstacles?

17. Logic
There's 2% of them and 98% of us and we're all letting them beat us?

Let Wisconsin be an inspiration that WE THE PEOPLE can take our country back.

And do it in pretty short order, if we really got our collective shit together!
