he did create the Endangered Species Act, EPA, Equal Rights Amendment.

You are missing the point. What I'm saying the dialog and policies have moved so far to the right, that the middle no longer exists.

6. He also
championed wage and price controls as a way to combat inflation. Even though no one then offered much opposition to his idea, the republican party today would shout "socialist!" if anyone proposed such a thing.

he was`t as extreme as the majority of the republicans of today.

7. Nixon as a person was an asshole
As a politican he wasn't considered far right even back then. You can make a case that he was about as liberal as Clinton was.
